“Karyn has already demonstrated amazing leadership qualities internally at the Somerset Valley YMCA with our staff, board of directors and members,” Andrea Thorne, board chair of the YMCA, said in the release. “I am excited that the public will now have a chance to interact with her and experience her passion for the Y and for building community partners.”

Before she joined the YMCA, the release said, Lightcap was an equity research analyst on Wall Street, with a specialty in the health care industry. She served as vice president in the equity research group at S.G. Cowen and Co.

Lightcap, a graduate of George Washington University, is currently on the board, and serves as board treasurer, for the Far Hills Country Day School.

“I have a good sense of the strategic direction that Paul wanted the Y to go in, and I look forward to moving us in that direction in his absence,” Lightcap said in the release. “We all look forward to his return when he is ready.”
