Republicans Cruise to Township Council Re-Election

Kurdyla, Norgalis and Pedroso win with a wide margin.

Republican Township Council members Allen Kurdyla, Howard Norgalis and Filipe Pedroso won re-election, Tuesday.

With 35 of the township's 36 districts reporting, Kurdyla received 7,488 votes, followed by Norgalis with 7,217, and Pedroso picking up 6,990. Democratic challenger Mary Pranzatelli received 4,290 votes, George Jones getting 4,147 and William Metz receiving 4,053.

Norgalis, returning for a fourth term, credited the voters' support to the trio's hard work and vowed to "do the best we can for the people of Bridgewater."

"I appreciate being elected and the appreciation goes to the public for having their support to represent all 46,000 residents, which is absolutely the goal I have," Kurdyla, who won re-election to a third term, said.

Pedroso was also pleased with the outcome. "We had a strong victory and I'm totally honored to serve the Bridgewater residents  for four more years," he said.

Kurdyla and Pedroso stressed their plans to keep a focus on the township's tax rate, which Kurdyla said was the envy of other municipalities.

Voters also returned Board of Education members Jeffrey Brookner, who picked up 4,994 votes, Jill Gladstone, with 4,867 votes, and Lynne Hurley, with 4,767.
