Somerville Author to Speak at Literacy Soiree

Literacy
Volunteers of Somerset County and the Somerset County Library System will host
the second annual Fall into Literacy Soiree, from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18,
at the Bridgewater Library.

The evening
features a wine tasting and chocolate pairing and a reading by Somerville author
Linda Barth whose book, A History of Inventing in New Jersey, was published in August.
Barth will share stories of the
groundbreaking, useful and silly inventions that have their roots in New Jersey.

A retired Bridgewater-Raritan teacher, Barth has written several other books,

including two about the Delaware and Raritan Canal, and contributed to the

Encyclopedia of New Jersey.

The soiree
includes wines from Discover Wine in Somerville, appetizers, a gift basket
raffle and more. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased online at
www.literacysomerset.org, or by calling (908) 725-5430. The evening benefits
Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County which provides free adult literacy
programs throughout the area.
