RV Habitat 5K Home Run & 1 Mile Fun Walk

Raritan Valley Habitat for Humanity (RVHFH) is hosting its fourth annual 5K race and one mile fun walk on Sunday, Oct. 7 at Duke Island Park. This event is a perfect way to meet fellow runners from the community and enjoy the tranquil fall weather while supporting a great cause.  Current sponsors for this year’s run are Foley, Inc., Gibson Family Foundation, and Eisner Amper LLP.

Awards will be presented to the first and second place men and women in each division and overall, the first and second place teams, and top individual and team fundraisers. In addition, this year’s race brings back High School Awards, whereby schools can compete amongst each other to be the fastest school team and the top school fundraiser.  Youth who fundraise may be eligible to receive a 4-hour community service certificate.

The event’s location, the 5K course at the 339-acre Duke Island Park, is scenic, flat, and certified by USA Track & Field, the national governing body for track & field, long distance running and race walking.  Proceeds from the event will contribute to RVHFH’s $30,000 fundraising goal and aid in its efforts to help low-income families in the Somerset and Hunterdon counties by helping build their own homes. Through the support of our volunteers, donors and sponsors, RVHFH is able to offer qualified families a 0% interest loan.
