Former RCA Employee Jean Montoney Parkinson Enjoyed Her Pets

Jean Montoney Parkinson died Nov. 3 at the Pavilions at Forrestal, in Princeton, where she had been a resident since 2009, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side during her final hours. 

She was born in Ashley, Pa., on May 23, 1923, to the late Gertrude Smink and Louis Montoney. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Cyril C. Westfield and the late Joseph Reed Fisher.

She was predeceased by her husband, John D. Parkinson, in 1983 and a half-sister, Claire Montanye Griffith, in 2009.

She was employed by both RCA in Bridgewater and Critikon in Raritan.

She took great pride in her home in Bridgewater where she lived from 1957 until 2009. She was an avid gardener and excelled at cooking, baking and sewing.
Jean was an animal lover and was never without a beloved pet in her home.

She is survived by her children, Sandra J. Rodman and her husband Robert of Clinton Twp., John D. Parkinson III and his wife Suzi of Vacaville, CA. and Richard D. Parkinson and his wife Mary Lou of Ennis, TX. She also leaves six grandchildren, Sandra D. O’Keefe of Bridgewater, Lee Ann Parkinson, John D. Parkinson IV and James Parkinson of California, Desiree Patten and Richard Reed Parkinson of Texas; and nine great-grandchildren, Danielle Parkinson, Jonathan La Follette, John O’Keefe, Jr., Stephen and Joseph Patten, Mark Middleton, Jace and Nathan Parkinson and Justin Wiseman.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

Services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by interment at Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Huberts Animal Welfare Center, PO Box 5281, North Branch, NJ 08876.
