Helen Hanko, 86, Enjoyed Family and Gardening

Services for longtime Bridgewater resident set for Saturday.

Helen Hanko, 86, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Dec. 28, with her family.

Daughter of the late Peter and Catherine Czahor, Helen was born in Manville and lived most of her life in Bridgewater.

She worked as a comptroller for Johns-Manville.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Bound Brook. 

Helen was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with her family and grandson.

She is predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Hanko who died in 2012; daughter, Sandra Hanko, brothers, Stanley Czahor, John Czahor, Joseph Czahor and sisters, Victoria Czahor and Julie Folkman.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Hanko, Joseph Hanko, Roger Hanko and daughter, Karen Zatika and husband Joseph; and cherished grandson, Anthony Zatika as well as sisters, Frances Bylina and Adeline Hanko.

Visiting hours will be held 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Jan. 4 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main St. A funeral mass will follow 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Bound Brook with burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
