Helen Marie Chapman, 75, Helped Restore Appalachian Trails

Arbor Glen resident had been a chemist in New Brunswick for many years.

Helen Marie Chapman, 75, died Thursday at Arbor Glen in Bridgewater.

Born in Jamestown, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Sarah Chapman, and lived in Grigstown before moving to Bridgewater in 2002. Helen

Marie was a chemist for Blonder Tongue Laboratories in New Brunswick.

She was a very active member in the Appalachian Mountain Club, where she not only did volunteer work restoring trails but where she also met and fell in love with her life partner, Lee Arnold.

Helen Marie is survived by her siblings, Robert Chapman, Catherine Hostetler; nieces, Katy Chapman, Sarah Davis, Janet Hostetler; nephews, Robert Chapman Jr., John Chapman, and Jeffrey Hostetler.

She is predeceased by her partner Lee Arnold in 1995.

Funeral arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A memorial service is being planned for a later date in the spring.
