Fire Commissioner: Please Vote for District 3 Budget

Jeffrey Holtz is running for a third term as fire commissioner.

To the Editor:

Feb. 18 is the . The elections for Fire District No. 3 will be held at the township municipal building. The time is from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. This year, I am running for my third term as fire commissioner.

Over the past six years that I have held this post, the fire commission has made great strides. We have upgraded several pieces of fire apparatus. Also, we have updated and implemented a Length of Service award for our many dedicated volunteers. The fire commission funded the purchase of numerous state-of-the-art pieces of equipment for our firefighters to use for your protection.

I have been in the fire service now for 26 years, most of them spent as a career firefighter for the Borough of North Plainfield. I have held a leadership role for the past 17 years as part of my local’s executive board.

My length of service as a leader and firefighter has made me a very effective fire commissioner. I have the respect of the men and women who serve this fire district because I always vote in the best interest of their safety and the safety of our residents.

This year, the fire district is asking for a vote “YES” in favor of our $864,127 annual budget. This money is broken down by need to three fire companies. The funds pay to maintain 10 pieces of fire apparatus, such as a command vehicle, pumpers, support vehicles and a tower ladder. This money also pays for vehicle insurance and firefighting education for members and equipment.

No other tax dollars are earmarked to support the fire companies other than what is listed on your property tax breakdown. I ask you to come out and support me and the fire district budget on Feb. 18.

Sincerely,

Jeff Holtz

Commissioner, Bridgewater Fire District No. 3
