$2.6K in Heroin Seized in Bridgewater Bust

Finderne Avenue man charged with possession with intent to distribute.

A Bridgewater man was found to be in possession of $2,600 worth of heroin and was charged with, among other things, possession with the intent to distribute, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano.

Ian Nunez, 31, of Finderne Avenue, was arrested after detectives witnessed him pick up a quantity of the drug in Newark and return it to his home on Wednesday, Soriano said.

Detectives from the prosecutor's organized crime and narcotics task force had received information that Nunez would be traveling to Newark to pick up the heroin, Soriano said. Detectives established surveillance of his home on Wednesday and observed him drive from his residence to Newark, and then back to his home at approximately 8 p.m, according to the prosecutor.

Soriano said that detectives approached the vehicle and identified themselves as police, but that Nunez refused to place the vehicle in park and exit, and that he had to be physically removed from the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 130 wax folds of heroin, a small bag containing cocaine, and $525 in cash, Soriano said. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives seized three digital scales and two hypodermic needles from Nunez's home, Soriano said.
