Appellate Court: Bridgewater Golf Course Not Liable for Man's Fall

A lawsuit was filed against the Somerset County Park Commission for the 2009 incident.

The dismissal of a lawsuit filed against the Somerset County Park Commission by a man alleging he was injured walking on Green Knoll Golf Course in Bridgewater has been upheld by a state appeals court.

Joseph Lareau claimed the commission “failed to provide a ‘safe walking path for pedestrians,’” reported NJ.com. The plaintiff said he was injured in March 2009 while walking on one of the course's footbridges.

The appellate judge upheld and earlier ruling that the golf course could not be held liable due to a state law granting immunity to property used for sports and recreation.
