According to the police report, Bernards Township Patrol Officer Chris Baxter stopped a 2001 Mercury on I-78 westbound Friday at about 1:30 p.m., after he noticed the vehicle did not have a front license plate displayed.

Township Patrol Officer William Seiple was called to the scene to assist, police said, and Bell was asked to exit the vehicle when he arrived.

As Bell exited the vehicle, Baxter allegedly observed a wax fold of heroin on the driver’s seat. Bell was searched and allegedly was found to have 26 wax folds of heroin, a bag of cocaine and two syringes, according to police.

McCray, the front seat passenger, also was asked to get out of the vehicle, police said. As McCray exited the vehicle, Seiple allegedly observed a wax fold of heroin fall from McCray’s possession. Police said McCray was searched and allegedly was found to have 44 wax folds of heroin and two bags of cocaine.

Bell agreed to a consent search of the vehicle and as a result of that search, a bag of marijuana was found in the driver’s side door pocket.

Bell and McCray were placed under arrest, transported to headquarters, processed and released on their own recognizance, according to the township police report.
