Bridgewater Man Punched, Burned in Fight, Cops Say

Township resident charged with simple assault and obstruction.

A Bridgewater man was charged with simple assault after he got into a fight with another township man and burned his neck with a cigarette.

David Nagle, 20, was charged with simple assault and obstruction in the incident that took place Monday at 6 p.m.

According to Bridgewater Township Sgt. Luke Daley, it was a case of one person saying he wanted to have a fight.

"The victim didn't do much of anything, and he got punched," he said. "Then the police were called."

Daley said Nagle punched the victim, and then the police were called. In addition, Daley said, Nagle was charged with obstruction after he tried to leave the scene to avoid being arrested.

The victim, Daley said, declined medical attention, but did have some minor redness in the face where he was struck. Police also found a burn mark to the right side of the victim's neck.

Nagle was processed on the disorderly persons charge and released.
