Driver Airlifted After Striking Sign, Two Utility Poles

Accident occurred late Sunday night on Route 202 near the intersection of Edgewood Terrace.

A 44-year-old Flemington man was airlifted to the hospital after his vehicle struck an office sign and two utility poles on Route 202 late Sunday night, said.

According to a statement released Monday by the police department, Snehal B. Patel was traveling southbound on Route 202 near the intersection of Edgewood Terrace when his 2000 Mazda MPV left the right side of the roadway at about 11:10 p.m.

The vehicle struck an office sign and two utility poles before coming to rest, police said. Patel, who was the only person in the vehicle, was extricated by the and airlifted to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, police said.

The extent of his injuries was not immediately released.
