Edison Woman Charged With Prostitution in Bridgewater

Sherry Mayle was charged after propositioning an undercover detective.

An Edison resident was arrested on a prostitution charge after a "Quality of Life Investigation" was conducted in Bridgewater, according to a release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Sherry Mayle, 49, was charged with promoting prostitution, and released on her own recognizance.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, the investigation was conducted June 24 by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force and the Bridgewater Township Police Department.

Soriano said detectives found an online advertisement for massage services in Bridgewater. In response to the advertisement, he said, an undercover detective contacted her by telephone and scheduled an appointment at the Bridgewater.

The undercover detective met Mayle at 3 p.m. June 24, Soriano said, and he was propositioned by her to perform a sexual act in exchange for money.

According to Soriano, Mayle was then taken into custody by the task force detectives and members of the Bridgewater Township Police Department.
