It's Still Winter and Snow Equipment is Being Stolen

Police officer allegedly assaulted at Bridgewater Marriott.

Bridgewater Township Police are investigating several thefts of snow equipment in the township.

On Feb. 4, police responded to a report that someone had removed a snow blower from the driveway of a Hillcrest Road resident. The snow blower was valued at $500.

On Feb. 2, police responded to Somerset County Transportation on East Main Street for a report that a hydraulic snow plow pump was taken. The pump was valued at a total of $2,000.

The Bridgewater Township Police made several other arrests for simple assault and driving while intoxicated between Feb. 1 and 8.

  • James Lomeli, 48, of Manville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, having a suspended drivers license, tailgating and allegedly having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle after he was pulled over while driving on Finderne Avenue Feb. 1. Police said Lomeli was also found to have an outstanding warrant for $533 out of Keyport.
  • John Lenart Jr., 42, of Scotch Plains, was charged with simple assault and disorderly persons Feb. 6 after he allegedly pushed a Bridgewater Township Police Officer in the chest during an investigation at the .
  • Police responded to an East Main Street residence Feb. 8 after receiving a report that someone had entered the home and removed about $3,600 worth of items.
