Soliciting Charge Turns Into Disorderly Conduct When Man Allegedly Kicks Dirt, Gives Police Middle Finger

Police make arrests for drug offense and are investigating burglaries.

A Utah man was charged with disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana after he allegedly starting yelling, breaking tree branches, kicking dirt and gave officers the middle finger when police attempted to arrest him for apparently soliciting without a permit, Bridgewater Police said.

Jonathon Williams, 19, was arrested for soliciting without a permit on April 14 at about 1:15 p.m., after residents of Papen Road called police because of a suspicious male selling magazines door-to-door for a company in Pennsylvania.

But according to Bridgewater Township Police Lt. Al Nicaretta, Williams was not happy with the summons.

“We found out he didn’t have a permit so we wrote him a summons, and he became upset with the officers because he thought he wasn’t doing anything wrong,” Nicaretta said. “He started yelling, breaking tree branches, kicking dirt and he gave officers the middle finger.”

“He was warned not to be disorderly, but he kept up his actions,” he added.

Williams was then slapped with a summons for disorderly conduct, police said.

But police weren’t done with him, Nicaretta said, because when they did a search of Williams following the arrest for disorderly conduct, officers found marijuana in his pocket, and charged him with possession of marijuana.
