North Carolina Man Arrested for Raritan Liquor Store Burglary

The man allegedly stole vodka and cigarettes.

A North Carolina man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the burglary of Boro Liquors, on Route 206 in Raritan, Aug. 26.

David Hunt, 21, was charged with burglary and theft in the incident.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, Raritan Borough Police were sent to the liquor store at 11:43 p.m. Aug. 26 for an activated burglary alarm. Police, Soriano said, found that a brick had been used to break the front glass door, and the store owner said bottles of vodka and an assortment of cigarettes had been taken.

Soriano said that an investigation by police found that a white male wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt and black pants had been seen carrying a carboard box in the area of the liquor store, while walking at a brisk pace. In checking the immediate area, Soriano said, police found an empty cardboard box and a bottle of vodka.

Detectives went to a nearby motel, Soriano said, and found video footage that showed a white male matching the description and carrying three vodka bottles as he entered a motel room.
