In separate incidents last week, two motorists were charged with impaired driving after losing control of their cars and colliding with property, Nutley police said.
On Dec. 10 at 2:26 pm, police responded to Jefferson Street on a call of a motor vehicle accident. A car had crossed four lawns before hitting a tree. The driver, 38-year-old Kamillah Corbitt, had watery, bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol, police said.
She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, and failure to wear a seat belt. She was given her court date and released.
A little more than an hour later, 26-year-old Daniel Wallace of Wayne was arrested after he allegedly drove his car into a building. Police did not immediately releases the address.
Wallace was still in the driver’s seat and barely breathing when police arrived. Police shut off the car’s ignition and took it out of gear before the Nutley Fire Department administered oxygen and extricated Wallace from the car.
Police allegedly spotted a cup in a cup holder containing 30 wax folds, a package of ‘Dead Man Walking” bath salts, rolling papers and a rolled dollar bill containing a white power. Wallace was taken to the hospital, where Nutley police retrieved a blood sample for testing.
He was issued summonses for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of bath salts. He was also issued two motor vehicles summons, for driving while intoxicated and operating a car while in possession of drugs.
