Piscataway man faces DWI, assault by auto and leaving the scene of an accident charges.

A Piscataway man was drunk and left the scene of an accident that left two people injured last month on Route 22, Bridgewater Police said Wednesday.

Craig Zieniewicz was charged with assault by auto, DWI and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident with injuries stemming from a Sept. 27 crash on Route 22 East near Mercer Street.

Police said Zieniewicz struck the rear of another vehicle and forced it into a utility pole that night at about 10:30 p.m.

Zieniewicz left the scene, but was arrested by Bound Brook police on Talmadge Avenue, according to a Bridgewater Police report.

The driver of the other vehicle lost consciousness and the passenger suffered cuts to the face, police said.

The two were transported to Somerset Medical Center for treatment of their injuries and released.
