Police Blotter: Suspicious Activities and Burglaries

Bridgewater Township Police Department releases a police blotter for Aug. 23.

Bridgewater Township Police responded to two burglaries, and a complaint about someone faking a relationship to get money from a local resident.

  • Police said a Brokaw Court resident reported Aug. 13 that she had received a call from someone claiming to be her niece and requesting she send $3,000 in bail money to cover an arrest for driving while intoxicated. After the resident sent the money to Canada to help, she called her niece's mother about the incident, and was told that her relative had not been arrested and did not request money.
  • Kirt Crawford, 21, of Summit was charged Aug. 14 with resisting arrest after an incident on Chimney Rock Road, police said. According to police, they were checking on a suspicious person on the road, who was later identified as Crawford, and had an outstanding warrant out of Summit. While the officers placed him under arrest, police said, Crawford pulled his hand away and said he was going to break the arresting officer's nose. Crawford was turned over to Summit police.
  • Police said two vehicles were broken into Aug. 15 while parked at the Bridgewater Commons Mall. About $1,000 worth of items was stolen from the vehicles.
  • Police said a vehicle parked at the Hilton Garden Inn on Promenade Blvd Aug. 16 was broken into. A Garmin GPS was reportedly removed from the vehicle.
