Police Blotter: Thefts, DWIs And Counterfeit Money

The Bridgewater Township Police Department releases a police blotter for the end of the week.

In the past week, the Bridgewater Township Police Department responded to calls of theft, the use of counterfeit money and driving while intoxicated.

  • Brian Brown, 22, of Bridgewater, was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and reckless driving after police responded Aug. 15 to a call of a hit-and-run accident on Oak Street.
  • Police said Brandon Farina, 31, of Hackettstown, and Frank Scarponi, 21, of Bridgewater, were arrested Aug. 19 because they attempted to use a fake $100 bill at Wegman's. Police said the pair was also charged with possession of heroin before being transported to Somerset County Jail.
  • Police said that workers at Banana Republic in the Bridgewater Commons Mall reported Aug. 19 that someone removed 41 shirts, valued at $2,439.50, from the store.
  • Zuleyka Cordero, 31, of Bridgewater, was arrested Aug. 20, police said, for allegedly shoplifting a vacuum from Target. The vacuum was valued at $399.99.
  • According to police, someone removed 10 shirts from the NY & Company at the Bridgewater Commons Mall Aug. 22. The shirts were valued at $349.50.
  • Keith Harvey, 41, of Berkeley Heights, was charged Aug. 22 with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to breath tests, failure to exhibit documents and failure to wear a seatbelt after he was pulled over on Route 22 East.
