Police Investigating Possible Link Among 4 Vehicular Burglaries

Police are investigating reports of four separate vehicular burglaries over a two-week period on the central and eastern end of the township, according to Bridgewater Township Police Sgt. Luke Daley.

Two separate incidents were reported on Sept. 19, in which passenger side windows were smashed and items were stolen from the vehicles.

The first incident, police said, was reported at 7:43 a.m. Sept. 19, when a resident said that, overnight, someone smashed the passenger’s side window of his locked vehicle. Loose change was reported stolen from the vehicle, police said.

In the second incident, reported at 7:51 a.m. Sept. 19, a resident reported that someone smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and stole an iPod Touch.

Daley said these incidents are being investigated as being related.

“We would associate them together,” he said. “As of right now, we are not sure about the link.”

Police said another burglary was reported at 9:38 p.m. Oct. 1, and the resident said it happened sometime overnight.

According to police, the resident reported that someone entered his vehicle and removed $1,900 in cash.

Daley said he is unsure at this time whether this incident is associated with the other two.

In the fourth incident, police said, a resident reported at 6:55 a.m. Oct. 3 that someone stole from his vehicle and caused damage to the inside.

According to police, the resident reported that someone removed various items totaling about $1,215, and also sprayed bleach inside the vehicle.

“This one is probably not associated with the others,” Daley said, citing the added criminal mischief complaint.

Daley said the department is investigating all four incidents, and working to determine if there is a link between them.
