UPDATE: Driver To Be Charged With Careless Driving After Hitting Dump Truck

The accident occurred on Route 22 West and North Bridge Street.

A Somerville resident will be charged with careless driving after an accident Tuesday in which she lost control of her vehicle and hit a dump truck.

Rachel Kennedy, 35, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with head injuries after the 2:26 p.m. crash, and is in stable condition, according to Bridgewater Township Police Officer John Mitzak.

Mitzak said Kennedy was exiting off Route 22 West onto North Bridge Street when she lost control and hit a dump truck in the middle of the intersection.

The driver of the dump truck, Mitzak said, was taken to Somerset Medical Center with hip pain, but his injuries have been classified as minor.

Mitzak said there were no issues with traffic after the crash, but it is still under investigation because he was unable to speak to Kennedy, who was taken to the hospital right after the accident.
