Police Kept Busy Throughout 2011

We look back at some of the major police stories of the year.

It's pretty clear that Bridgewater is a fairly safe town.

But that doesn't mean the Bridgewater Township Police Department doesn't sometimes have its work cut out for it.

With the end of the year here, we are reminding you of some of the work the police have done this year as we look back at some of the top stories of criminal activity and other such news in 2011.

JANUARY

Jan. 8—A when it was pushed into her after it became disabled on Route 287. Her vehicle hit a barrier in the road and was disabled, then was hit by a truck, pushing it into her and leaving her unconscious, but breathing.

Jan. 12—A after he was found with a half-pound of it, estimated at $3,500, in his vehicle.

Jan. 21—A Neshanic Station when he allegedly struck another man with his car after an altercation at a party on Cain Court. The man was on the charge in March, and in September.

FEBRUARY

Feb. 7—The township was rocked by an alleged when 19-year-old Michael Koury was allegedly attempting to rob the store and shot and killed store owner Roy Devoe, then himself. 

MARCH

March 17—A total of on Route 22 in the early morning hours. No was injured and the blaze was contained to only the two rooms.

March 20—One man was killed and another was wounded in an , about a quarter mile from the Bridgewater Township line. The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said the crime was allegedly gang-related.

March 23— after they were found with 3 pounds of it while they were parked in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall.

APRIL

April 12— he suffered when he got into a fight in 2010 with a man he was allegedly robbing. Uhler suffered brain injuries in the fight.

April 12—A after he was found with video files of underage children engaged in prohibited sexual acts.

April 16—Three across the state, including in Bridgewater. The men allegedly ransacked the Bridgewater house, and stole money and jewelry.

April 26— after a Narcotics Task Force investigation found evidence of the drugs.

MAY

May 24—A after it was found that she allegedly deceived those purchasing airline and other tickets through her business, HK Travels, that she operated from her home.

JUNE

June 8— on Finderne Avenue. Police said there were no weapons involved, but the fight was bigger than was originally anticipated.

June 28—An after she propositioned an undercover detective at the Red Bull Inn during an investigation.

JULY

July 10— just outside the building.

July 13— on Memorial Day 2009. Wilson will be sentenced to 45 years in prison, and will have to serve at least 38 hours before being eligible for parole. He also agreed in the deal to testify against the other two defendants in the case.

July 16—A left the residence without a roof and much of its structure.

July 19—A of his residence, which was also within 1,000 feet of a school.

July 29—A on the Raritan Valley Line as it passed through the Milltown section of town on the way to High Bridge.

July 30—A and drove into oncoming traffic, hitting the man's car. The accident closed both sides of the road for about two hours. about a week later.

AUGUST

Aug. 18—A while driving on East Main Street.

SEPTEMBER

Sept. 8—A on Route 28 near Milltown Primary School.

Sept. 13—A after he was found to have burglarized a pharmacy in the Finderne section of town.

Sept. 22—A and other drugs near Immaculata High School.

OCTOBER

Oct. 6— to ensure that there are no incidents of illegal drinking on school premises.

Oct. 18—A in the Bridgewater Commons Mall.

Oct. 23—A and six others suffered fire damage after a fire on the first floor started around 4 a.m.

NOVEMBER

Nov. 14—The county is currently investigating options for a that will have a regional department in Bridgewater and other locations. The option is still being investigated, and a decision has yet to be made.

Nov. 21—Although they are not launching a campaign, , and said they have found many people are using the stickers of deceased relatives to park in those spaces.

Nov. 28—. The child suffered only minor injuries.

Nov. 30— that included burglary, and are expected to be sentenced to 10 years in prison, with 85 percent to serve.

DECEMBER

Dec. 1— that fell across the road and hit another vehicle during rush hour.

Dec. 19—, saying that she wants her client's statements concerning the murder of Bridgewater resident Carolyn Stone in 2009 to be analyzed. This will push back trial dates for Granskie and defendant Rocky DiTaranto.

Dec. 28—A after he was found to be in possession of videos of boys showering in the communal shower at Immaculata High School.
