Police Officer Honored for Lifesaving and Service

For the past 15 years, the Bridgewater Township Police Department has been honoring those officers who have proven themselves in the line of duty.

And this year was no different as awards were handed out April 27 to officers in categories of lifesaving, exceptional service, CPR/defibrillator saves, letter of commendation and civilian awards.

According to Bridgewater Police Lt. Al Nicaretta, officers have to be recommended for an award by one of their peers.

“Then the recommendation goes to an awards committee made up of other officers who vote yes or no for the award,” he said.

Those receiving the award, Nicaretta said, received a framed certificate. A medal is given to those who receive awards for lifesaving, exceptional service and CPR saves, he said.
