Prosecutor: Man Had 33 Pot Plants in Home, Nearby Township Park

Martinsville resident found with approximately $90,000 worth of pot.

A 44-year-old man was found with more than 30 marijuana plants—with an estimated street value of $90,000—growing in his Martinsville home and in a nearby park, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.

Michael Maslo was charged with second-degree manufacturing marijuana, second-degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in a park zone, third-degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a statement released Friday, Bernards Township Police detectives set up surveillance Wednesday morning in the area of Mountain Park. The detectives observed Maslo exit his Long Road residence and was seen tending to marijuana plants growing in the park, the prosecutor's office said.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force as well as members from the Bridgewater and Bernards police departments executed a search warrant Thursday of Maslo's residence, the prosecutor's office said.

Approximately 200 grams of marijuana, three marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia and $1,225 in cash was seized from the home, the prosecutor's office said. Five additional plants were seized from Maslo's backyard, the prosecutor's office said.

An additional 25 marijuana plants were found in the area of Mountain Park where Maslo was observed on Wednesday, the prosecutor's office said.

Maslo was held at the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Grady, of Sanford and Son fame, grew what he said he thought was parsely in the junk-yard garden. When advised by Lamont about the real nature of the plants, Grady averred (because of similarities in appearance between parsely and the substance involved) that at least it might be thought of as being "partially parsely".

If all this were true, Michelle would have mandated an after-lunch pot-smoke for all school lunches. (Even if is isn't, we wouldn't put it past her).

"Marijuana promotes healthy lungs: http://dailycollegian.com/2012/02/01/marijuana-health-claims-go-up-in-smoke/ . . .." Only if you inhale, which means that former Potus Bill C didn't get a boost from his experience with it.

Looks like a lot of time & money wasted for something that will be legal soon and screwed a resident, that wasn't causing any harm.

Apparently he was only breaking the law!

Stupid use of a lot of law enforcement resources. I guess there's no REAL crime to fight in these 2 towns.

It did, however, give Special K an opening for a gratuitous Michelle Obama swipe. I guess that's what passes for intelligent debate among the righties.

Reference to Michelle was possibly gratuitous, but arousing a sinister guy was fortuitous.

I hope you remember that when the next time you are talking on your cell phone while driving.

That’s a prospect that doesn’t set well--- Caught driving while conversing via cell— But it happens to be One that’s highly unlikely So there’s no need further on it to dwell.

The police officers have nothing better to do in basking ridge. They litterally will sit in their cars at the 7-11 on martinsville road and just small talk until some one is seen speeding then, every cop that was sitting there will respond to the speeding call. Completely unneccessary, this town doesn't need all the police officers. We should transfer some of ours to newark or jersey city, maybe then the cops won't be so bored all the time.

Act on that thought and then reflect on the realitypromised by the old adage. "you never miss the water till the well runs dry".

From the article: "Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force as well as members from the Bridgewater and Bernards police departments executed a search warrant Thursday of Maslo's residence, the prosecutor's office said." You REALLY think this is a good use of our taxpayers' resources?
