Raritan Man Arrested for Theft of Copper

The following arrest information was supplied by the Bridgewater Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Raritan resident was arrested for stealing copper after a witness saw the vehicle he was operating with scrap copper in the back, according to Bridgewater Township Police.

James Miller, 39, was charged with theft of movable property at 12 p.m. March 30.

According to police, a Kline Place resident said he saw a pickup truck exiting his driveway, carring a barrel of scrap copper in the bed of it. Further investigation, police said, found that Miller was operating the vehicle, and had taken the copper.

Once arrested, police said they found Miller had four outstanding warrants—one out of Bridgewater for $163, one out of Plainfield for $305 and two out of Manville for $212 and $1,000.

Police said Miller posted bail for all the warrants and was released.
