Two Charged With Oxycodone Possession

One, a Bernardsville resident, allegedly was found with the pills in a Bridgewater hotel.

A Bedminster resident was arrested on drug charges Wednesday after she allegedly was found with illegal pills in a Bridgewater hotel, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Nicole Morgan, 29, of Bedminster, was charged with third-degree possession of Oxycodone after police said they found her with a bottle of 25 of the pills inside her purse while she was in her hotel room in Bridgewater, the prosecutor's office said.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, an investigation by members of the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force led to search warrants obtained for a Bedminster condo on Village Green Road and for Morgan and Branchburg resident Alyssa Barkhorn.

Soriano said the detectives received information indicating that Morgan would be in a hotel in Bridgewater. Morgan was found not to be in possession of drugs, Soriano said. But she gave voluntary consent for a search of her guest room and purse, and the pills reportedly were found inside her purse, Soriano said.

At the same time, Soriano said, police arrested Bedminster resident Anthony Kempf, 28, who was also in the hotel room after authorities said he was found to have an outstanding warrant from Union County.

Detectives then prepared to execute the search warrant on Village Green Road in Bedminster. At that moment, Soriano said, Barkhorn,26, exited the condo and allegedly was seen discarding two Oxycodone pills on the ground before detectives announced themselves.

Soriano said detectives reportedly seized 13 pills from Barkhorn and found suspected crushed Oxycodone pills and hypodermic needles in the condo.

Barkhorn was charged with third-degree possession of Oxycodone with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Soriano said William Barkhorn, 24, of Sparta, was also found in the condo, and was found to have outstanding warrants from Bernardsville and East Amwell, according to authorities.

According to Soriano, the seized Oxycodone has an estimated street value of $750, while the pills allegedly seized from Alyssa Barkhorn have an estimated street value of about $450.

Morgan and Barkhorn were lodge in Somerset County Jail. Kempf and William Barkhorn were also lodged in the jail on the outstanding warrants.
