UPDATE: Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After 287 Crash

The Brooklyn man sustained injuries to his extremities.

A Brooklyn man is in critical condition after while driving on Route 287 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an article on mycentraljersey.com.

Edwin Rivera, 42, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick after sustaining injuries to his extremities, according to the article.

The article said that Rivera was driving in the left lane at speeds exceeding the speed limit when a white Hyundai entered his lane from the middle lane. Rivera, the article said, lost control of the motorcycle, which then struck a metal guardrail around mile marker 16.6.

The southbound side of Route 287 in Bridgewater was shut down after state police received the call about the accident, and remained closed for about an hour.

State police said Monday that the investigation into the accident itself is still ongoing, and declined to provide further information.
