UPDATE: Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After 287 Crash

The Brooklyn man sustained injuries to his extremities.

A Brooklyn man is in critical condition after while driving on Route 287 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an article on mycentraljersey.com.

Edwin Rivera, 42, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick after sustaining injuries to his extremities, according to the article.

The article said that Rivera was driving in the left lane at speeds exceeding the speed limit when a white Hyundai entered his lane from the middle lane. Rivera, the article said, lost control of the motorcycle, which then struck a metal guardrail around mile marker 16.6.

The southbound side of Route 287 in Bridgewater was shut down after state police received the call about the accident, and remained closed for about an hour.

State police said Monday that the investigation into the accident itself is still ongoing, and declined to provide further information.

edwin is an exceptional rider and always took caution when riding...he was not speeding...it pisses me off that he is made to look as if it were his fault...the troopers have a vidso that clearly shows he and the others he was riding with were cut off by a woman driving a hyndai switching lanes without signaling...who by the way fled the seen...my friend will not be made to look like he was riding wreckless because that is far from the truth...he will be recovering from such a tragety because of someones stupidity...i cant seem to understand how some people will tell half the stories to reporters...get the story straight and then write it

And that is the best way to say how it all happen not like the report that was written out. People should really know all the facts before writting a story like that. Yo edwin we all here for you. Mark & melissa

Im not sure where they got that report from considering there was traffic on 287... there wasnt enough road to speed or drive wreckless. I would like to know where the reporters got thier story?

All I can say is " god don't like ugly" and sooner or later she will pay for driving recklessly.

It is so amazing that every rider was interviewed by police officers and to the disbelief they had of our story of what occured. A woman (Nicole) and her husband took the time to tell officers what actually occured at the scene. If it wasnt for her, and the Truth ahe told to varify all our stories. My friend would look like a careless ryder. I thank you Nicole in telling the truth to the officers on scene and varifing our stories of the truth. And final note: lady in car cut across from the first lane to third lane with no signal light and not a care for any one on the rode.

I'm quite surprised he survived. I was driving in one of the cars his group had just passed and was convinced the guy at the back was going to crash since he was riding like a complete asshole splitting lanes at over 100 mph in 70 mph traffic. To be honest his whole Club was wreckless and should all be held responsible for his wreck. I've ridden for 20 years on all types of bikes including sport bikes and could easy see a crash was coming. Then in 2 miles a cloud of dirt, a lifeless body, and a bike on fire. I will say I'm sure Edwin is a great guy with a huge heart, but he should reconsider ever getting on a bike again. He will not be the last accident in the group I saw him riding with. It's riding like that, that puts vinyl decals all over the back of cars remembering a family member or loved one day in and day out.

And for the record, you are all full of shit that you werent sppeding or riding recklessly. Its all of the people leading the group that are to blame here. You all were riding in excess of 100 mph for the 2 miles leading up to the scene. Furthermore you are a bunch of idiots for one simple reason. The state police investigated the skid marks left by Edwin's bike and measured the distance ot took for it to stop sliding. Its a calculation based on physics and evidence doesnt lie. You all know he was going soooo fast that the Hyundai didnt even expect a bike to be coming in that lane. Its Edwin's fault he is lying in the hospital instead of enjoying his Sunday's riding.
nancy rivera July 05, 2012 at 04:11 PM
wow.no one in n.j. Drive less then 75-80..sad no one stop if they had so much to say
maddy July 05, 2012 at 09:43 PM
to the witness. obviously you have much to say regarding the accident and as like you investigated the incident. its easy for a person to provide their opinion but clearly you didn't stop to assist a person in need. The main problem here is that the person who hit Edwin fled the accident and left a man in a bad condition. i hope that person could sleep at night knowing what awful accident ocuured.
alex July 05, 2012 at 11:48 PM
Hey witness I got complete video footage of the whole thing .... I guess you never saw the woman go 3 lanes across and push Edwin off the road ......so you really need to shut the fuck up cause my friend laying in the hospital cause a reckless driver .... And if you want to continue this you can email ....... OSW26@AOL.com. and by the way I was the driver at the end of the pack ........
alex July 05, 2012 at 11:54 PM
He didnt see Shit ...... Blowing smoke out his Ass ... First off we are not a club or group .... We are all family members and related to.each other .... If you saw the whole thing why you did stop to help out or gave your statement ?
N. Stef B. July 06, 2012 at 03:17 AM
Wow "witness"!!! You must have been following that group at a good "100mph" to see that puff of smoke 2miles into when you first saw the. You obviously gave yourself away by seeing what you saw if these supposed motorcycles were riding at such speeds. And for your information the skid marks left by a motorcycle involve more than calculating that of a car. A motorcycle obviously involves speed, weight of the driver and classification of the motorcycle. The video speaks more than what you saw with "your eyes." Perhaps if they were speeding, this would not have happened. Careless drivers shld be harassed as much as motorcyclist are. Think again when you change lanes without signaling or just checking your blind spot without a head check. What YOU should learn from this as the "experienced" rider you are is...it doesn't fucking matter when a car cuts you off!!!

Why would that witness leave such a nasty negative comment? That's prolly the chick that hit edwin
