Warren Resident's Tip Leads to Arrest of Alleged Bridgewater Car Burglar

23-year-old charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft.

A Warren resident's report of someone breaking into an unlocked vehicle Monday night led to multiple charges of theft and burglary against 23-year-old Bridgewater resident Ryan Vlachos.

Vlachos is being held at Somerset County Jail on four counts of burglary, three counts of theft and possession of burglary tools.

According to Warren Township Police Lt. Robert Glen, Vlachos was found in the area of the report as police responded to the resident's tip of a possible burglary in progress.

"He was located in the area by patrol officers shortly following a resident reporting that somebody was breaking into the vehicle," Glen said. "He was found to be in possession of proceeds taken from vehicles."

Glen added Vlachos allegedly had a tool with a spring loaded punch, which could be used to break locks on vehicles to gain entry but hadn't used it because the vehicles he is alleged to have stolen from were all unlocked.
