Bridgewater Legislators Visit Township

They encourage residents to call about any concerns.

The new legislators representing Bridgewater visited Thursday's township council meeting to introduce themselves to the council members and residents.

With the redistricting putting Bridgewater in the 23rd district, the township will be represented by Sen. Michael Doherty and assemblymen John DiMaio and Erik Peterson.

The legislators have set up an office in the Bridgewater Plaza on Route 22 to be closer to their Somerset County constituents.

"We have the honor of representing Bridgewater," Dougherty said. "We wanted to stop by, and say hello to you and members of the public. We are very excited and interested in the issues you confront as elected officials of Bridgewater Township."

DiMaio said they are looking forward to working for the common interest of the residents.

Peterson said he used to swim at the , and is familiar with the area. He said he and his family are shifting their shopping priorities to this area as part of support for the township's economy.

"We are glad to come out to this area," he said.

In addition, Peterson said, he is hoping that residents will contact them with any concerns and questions they have about the township and legislative district.

"We can only do a good job if people let us know what's on their minds," he said. "I encourage, whether it comes from the council or public, for everyone to contact our offices."

"There are different issues facing different parts of the district," he added. "Bridgewater is different from Hackettstown and Phillipsburg. Keep us advised of what's important."
