Council Briefs: Energy Conservation Project Moving Forward

The council approves resolutions for a change order and contract awards.

What follows is an account of actions taken on March 7 by the Bridgewater Township Council, which, while not breaking news, are still of note.

Contract awarded concerning energy conservation

The township council unanimously approved a resolution to award a contract to Brownsworth Engineering LLC for an energy conservation measure and improvement project.

The contract is for an amount not to exceed $21,000.

According to township engineer Tom Forsythe, the township had awarded a , which Bridgewater will not be paying for. This will be handled by the county.

“This contract is for checking those improvements and investigating other county recommendations for changes,” he said.

According to the resolution, the services will include designing a new hot water reheat variable-air-volume system at the library; performing initial testing at the senior center; handling permits; submitting construction cost estimates; and other additional necessary services.

Township increases contract amount for road project

Because of a change in the materials needed, the council unanimously approved a resolution to increase a contract with Z. Brothers Concrete Contractors Inc. for the paving and patching of Van Veghten, Cedarbrook and Shannon roads.

The contract is going to be increased by $3,432.35, changing the total price from $112,259.25 to $115,691.60.

“There were many locations included,” said township administrator Robert Bogart. “Some areas were more problematic.”

Township awards professional services contract

The township council unanimously approved a resolution to award a contract for professional services to John Draikiwicz, of Gibbons P.C., to name him bond counsel for calendar year 2011.

“This person has experience working with Bridgewater in the past,” said Natasha Turchan, director of finance.
