Council Briefs: Lease Approved for Turf Field With District

And the township receives a grant for the state's Over the Limit Under Arrest program.

What follows is an account of actions taken on Aug. 15 by the Bridgewater Township Council, which, while not breaking news, are still of note.

Lease approved for turf field with board of education

The township council unanimously approved an ordinance to execute a lease with the board of education for the construction of a to be used by both the district and the township.

The agreement says the township will use the field for recreational purposes during the times it is not being used by the district.

According to the agreement between the two entities, the township will spend up to $1 million to construct the field in exchange for a 25-year lease with a 10-year renewal option.

The district will pay $1 in rent each year.

The lease was already approved by the district.

Council approves additional revenue for police grant

The council unanimously approved a resolution to allow for additional money to be placed in the budget for Over the Limit Under Arrest 2011.

The department has received a total of $4,400 to be used for additional patrols during the Over the Limit Under Arrest program.

Council approves liquor license

The council unanimously approved the renewal of a liquor license for Arber Corporation Inc, known publicly as Fratelli’s.

According to the company’s application, the license was last actively used Dec. 31, 2007, so there was a petition to the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control for a special ruling.

The resolution states that the license will not be renewed again unless it is being actively used on or before June 30, 2012.
