Larsen Announces Candidacy for Congress

David Larsen, of Oldwick, is running against current Rep. Leonard Lance.

Oldwick resident David Larsen announced Thursday that he will be running in the November elections to represent the seventh district in Congress against Republican incumbent Leonard Lance, according to a release from his campaign.

Larsen, who calls himself a conservative Republican, is the chairman of Right Direction Organization, which, according to the organization's website, is devoted to restoring Movement Conservatism in the country.

"I am committed to restoring the American dream for all," Larsen said in the release about his candidacy. "This means establishing a campagin guided by true conservative principals, values and beliefs."

"Our nation is unique among the nations of the world in that it was founded on a fundamental set of ideals, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, 'The Great Experiment,'" he added in the release. "We must protect these ideals, as they make up the very core from which our great Republic was established."

According to the release, Larsen is a small business owner, and lives with his wife and daughters in Oldwick.

Larsen attended Evangel College in Missouri, before moving to the College of Staten Island in New York City, where he majored in biology and business administration, according to his website.

First, according to his website, Larsen began his own construction business, and later moved on to oversee the growth of his family business, Larsen Windows & Doors.

His goals, Larsen said in the release, are about putting America's finances back in order while strengthening the economy. He said in the release that it is about putting America back to work and reining in big government.

Larsen has never held political office before.

"America has come to a precipice, economically and socially," he said in the release. "That is why I am compelled to campaign for the U.S. Congress. I will no longer stand idly by, allowing entrenched career politicians to rob America's future generations of their financial freedoms and liberties by making immoral decisions for self-aggrandizement and special interests."

"Time is of the essence for real change in Washington and restoring the American dream," he added.
