Lights on for Testing at Municipal Turf Field

The township is testing the lights at its new turf field.

Residents have expressed concerns over lights at a new turf field being on while no one is there—but township officials say that won't be the case after Friday.

The lights high above the new turf field at the municipal complex on Commons Way have been on for hours every day for the past week or so as part of township testing requirements.

According to township administrator James Naples, township construction specs require that lights burn for 100 hours before the lighting is accepted from the contractors. But, Naples said, the lights are not on for 100 hours straight.

Instead, Naples said, the lights burn for a few hours at a time each day for several days.

Naples said Friday is the final day they will be on for testing before they can be accepted by the township.
