NJ.Com: Pfizer and EPA to Treat Contaminated Water Near Ballpark

The agreement requires Pfizer to spend about $2.8 million on the project.

An agreement was reached between Pfizer Inc. and the Environmental Protection Agency to require the creation of a plan to treat contaminated water that has seeped into the Raritan River from the former American Cyanamid Superfund site next to TD Bank Ballpark, according to an article on nj.com.

In the agreement, the article said, Pfizer will spend at least $2.8 million to create a system that will intercept and treat contaminated subsurface groundwater before sending it into the Raritan River.

Pfizer has agreed to be part of this even through contamination predates the company's purchase of Wyeth pharmaceutical company in 2009.
