No Surprises in Tuesday's Primaries

Uncontested races yield three Republican, three Democratic candidates for township council.

There were no surprises in Tuesday's primary elections in Bridgewater, which found no races among those vying for the Republican and Democratic nominations for November's elections.

In November, there will be three open seats on the township council.

Incumbents Allen Kurdyla, Filipe Pedroso and Howard Norgalis earned the Republican nominations, earning 1,318, 1,285 and 1,304 votes, respectively.

Challengers George Jones, Mary Pranzatelli and Bill Metz earned the Democratic nominations with 335, 353 and 341 votes, respectively.

A total of 1,831 votes were cast in Bridgewater, about 6 percent of the number of registered voters in the township.

Bridgewater was only dealing with a contested race for governor, both Republican and Democrat.

Gov. Chris Christie handily took the Republican votes, with 1,391 votes to challenger Seth Grossman's 87.

On the Democratic side, Barbara Buono took Bridgewater, with 317 votes to challenger Troy Webster's 56 votes.

All other races in the township—including Assembly, Senate and Freeholder—were uncontested.
