Poll Results: Voters Go For Republicans

The results of Patch's very informal poll show a very close sweep by the Republicans.

With a week to take part in a asking residents who they will be voting for in Tuesday's elections, the Republican candidates for mayor and council came out on top in a very close match.

More than 400 readers participated in our survey as a precursor to the real elections. Although the results are obviously no indication of who will win the actual election, it was interesting to see how many times the lead switched among the candidates.

Running for mayor are , and . Running for two open seats on the township council are Republican incumbents and , and Democrat challengers and .

As of 9:30 p.m. Monday, of the 686 votes cast in our poll concerning the mayoral candidates, Hayes received 375 votes, Jones received 257 and Ventantonio received 44.

For the council, Moench and Rose received 389 votes, while Pranzatelli and Rooney received 238. Another 13 people said they are planning to vote for another combination of candidates.
