Republicans Pleased to Have Voter Support

Dan Hayes was elected as mayor, and Matthew Moench and Christine Henderson Rose were re-elected to council.

In the moments following the announcement of the results of Tuesday's election, Republican candidates Dan Hayes, Matthew Moench and Christine Henderson Rose said they were pleased with the direction the campaign went.

"We are pleased with the results," Moench said. "Our team worked very hard, knocked on doors and got the message out."

Hayes was elected Tuesday to the position of mayor for a four-year term beginning in January, earning 48 percent of the vote, or 3,962 votes. Hayes, a current Republican councilman, defeated Democrat Jim Ventantonio and Independent George Jones, who received 2,600 and 1,652 votes, respectively.

Moench earned 4,852 votes and Rose earned 4,725 votes for their new terms on council. They defeated Democratic challengers Mary Pranzatelli and John Rooney, who earned 3,123 and 2,988 votes, respectively.

For Hayes, Moench and Rose, the goal now is to keep working for the residents with the campaign promises they have made.

"We continue to look to our team for the challenges faced by the community," Hayes said.

Moench agreed that they will move forward with the support of their team.

"We got the message out," he said. "People seem to be happy with the way the town is run, how we cut costs where we can and maintain spending."
