VIDEO: Ipsen Opens New HQ in Somerset County

100 new jobs arrive with company's relocation to Basking Ridge.

Company executives from France and representatives for state, federal and local government attended for Ipsen North America, an affair that marked the international pharma company's arrival in Basking Ridge.

Ipsen relocated from and moved temporarily into rented quarters on Mount Airy Road in Bernardsville.

The new 30,000-square-foot headquarters off Allen Road will house mostly commercial operations but also coordinators for research and development in the Boston area and elsewhere in the United States, according to Sean McKercher, president and general manager for Ipsen North America.

He said the company plans to hire a total of about 100 people, and already has brought on board about 60 to 70 new employees.

Marc de Garidel, chairman and chief executive officer for Ipsen, said that the talent pool of employees in this area—along with such considerations as the region's transportation system and cooperation of state and local officials in welcoming the company—was a major reason that Ipsen selected Basking Ridge for its new headquarters.

Two patients also spoke during the ribbon cutting ceremony about the support and assistance in obtaining needed medicines that Ipsen has offered.

"Everything we do is all about the patient," McKercher said.
