And there will be one more change made to the school calendars.

The Board of Education approved several resolutions during the Aug. 23 meeting, which, while not not breaking news, are still of note.

According to board of education vice president Patrick Breslin, the facilities committee has been discussing its capital reserve count, and looking at how much money they have and how much they need.

“We have undertaken a process of looking at the capital reserve in light of projects that are likely or possible to occur in a three- to five-year window,” he said. “Those would be projects of exceptional size, like boiler replacements and roof replacement.”

“These are projects we shouldn’t be putting money into ahead of time, but those where we should have money available when the need occurs,” he added.

Breslin said the committee is looking to provide a better way of determining upcoming projects and how they would impact the capital reserve.

One more change to be made to school calendars

Superintendent of Schools Michael Schilder said the district will have to make one final change to the 2012-2013 school year calendar.

According to Schilder, a parent pointed out that school was scheduled for Election Day 2012. In the past, school had been canceled on that day because of all the people that will be in and out of the school to vote.

“It’s something we missed, and we should take it off the calendar like we have in the past,” he said.
