School lunch prices raised

In accordance with a previously announced move that will require an increase in costs for school lunches, the board of education released the new prices for the 2011-2012 school year.

The change is required because of state mandate that the lunches must cost a certain amount when the free lunches are offered.

All school lunch prices have increased by 5 cents.

At the primary schools, student lunches will cost $2.30, an extra entrée will be $1, pizza will be $1.20 with lunch and ice cream will be $0.75, among other prices. At the intermediate schools, these main prices [aside from the ice cream, which is $1.50] will be the same.

In the middle school, a student lunch will be $2.45, a entrée will be $2.40, a pizza slice with lunch will be $1.25 and ice cream will be either $0.75 or $1.50.

And at the high school, student lunch will be $2.60, premium lunch will be $2.85, an entrée will be $2.55 and a pizza slice with lunch will be $1.30.
