BRHS Marching Band Runners Up in State Championship

Performing after midnight following delays, band posts highest score of season.

The BRHS Panther Marching Band is heading to Towson, Md., Friday for the regional competition, after grabbing second place at the New Jersey State Championships, Saturday.

Competing in the Group 6 Open at Rutgers High Point Solutions Stadium against 55 bands from across the state, the Panthers scored 86.588—behind South Brunswick's 88.143.

Following rain delays, the band was finally called onto field after midnight to perform for the championship.

"This was the band's best score for the season with a six-point improvement over their first-place finish in the Yamaha Cup at Giants Stadium," parent Nancy Fischer said. "The band has worked hard all season to enhance the difficulty level of their performance and steadily improve their competitive rankings."

This weekend's regional event pits the band against 28 other schools in the Bands of America Regional Championship.
