The Panthers came out for the 2011 season, making a powerful statement to its competition: we will be a force to be reckoned with.  Although held scoreless for nearly 15 minutes to start the game, the Panthers were not to be stopped, scoring seven unanswered goals from five different players.

PANTHER OF THE GAME

Rachel Yaney, offensive line—Yaney was solid on attack, scoring two goals and getting an assist. "Her stick skills and vision of the field were tremendous," said Coach Kathie DeBonis.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Catherine Caro (BRHS) was solid in the middle, and had a goal and three assists.

Kayla Sullivan (BRHS) was strong defensively.

Ridge goalkeeper Marissa Taddeo was outstanding as the anchor on the defense.

COACH'S TAKE

"I was pleasantly surprised today. We had our passing game and looked very good today. We had our angles and we were there for our complimentary passes. Defensively, we were solid. Our circle play presented a lot of opportunities and we were not able to finish, they finished enough scorewise, but quality goals and goals that are going to the ESPN highlight reel were not there. It is a young team and we had a couple freshman starting today." - Head coach Kathie DeBonis

THEY SAID IT

"We really pulled it together. We had a shakey pre-season, but we stepped it up today. It was a good first game."—Rachel Yaney
