Board approves resolution to look into advertising.

The board of education approved a resolution at Tuesday's meeting that appoints Advantage3 as the company to determine whether there are opportunities for advertising at the middle and high school.

The board has discussed in the past whether it would be in the best interests of the district to consider allowing . Recently, the finance committee determined it would be appropriate to at least look into it.

"We had a presentation from the company, and what we're doing is allowing them to look at the high school and middle school facilities," said board member Lynne Hurley. "They will come back to us with information."

In appointing the company, the board is not allowing for the advertising, but is simply allowing for a study of whether it would be possible. The board will then hear a presentation from the company and determine whether it would like to move forward.

But hiring the company does not mean the district has made the commitment to move ahead with any plans that are developed.

Also, according to the resolution, the board is doing this study in cooperation with the Middlesex Regional Educational Services Commission Cooperative Pricing System award.
