Eisenhower Intermediate School Hosts Taalim School of Indian Music

Submitted by BREA

Eisenhower Intermediate School in Bridgewater hosted the Taalim School of Indian Music on Friday, June 6, 2014.

Instructors Jin Won, Mike Lukshis, and Kaumil Shah came and played the tablas as well as taught our students Indian rhythms.

The students enjoyed participating in tapping the rhythms while saying the Indian syllables that accompany them.  There was a special student helper during the assembly; 5th grade student Janak Munshi who studies at the Taalim School of Indian Music.

Janak demonstrated rhythms on the table and played with poise and professionalism in front of the entire 5th grade.  We were very proud of him!

Overall, the assembly was wonderful and quite relevant to our study of cultural music in 5th grade general music curriculum.
