Elections Top Board of Ed Agenda

Plus, the board will hear its first presentation on redistricting.

Two different major discussions are topping the agenda for the Valentine's Day meeting of the board of education— and .

The board of education is expected to continue discussions about moving elections from April to November, as per a new bill signed by Gov. Chris Christie. In addition to moving the elections, the new bill says that if elections are held in November, residents will only be able to vote on the budget if it exceeds the 2 percent cap.

Although it is not required to make the change by Feb. 17, the county is recommending that districts make the decision by then to account for absentee ballots and other needs of the election board.

The board of education is expected to make a decision by the end of the meeting, but is planning to hold a special meeting Thursday if a decision isn't made.

In addition, the board of education is hearing its first presentation from the redistricting task force about options for the district. Although suggestions have been discussed throughout the past few months, no official recommendations or presentations have been made yet.

Also on the agenda for the work session are discussions about turf field lighting and a Basilone Field Press Box, as well as level changes for the high school curriculum and the academic integrity policy.

The board will also hear information about possible advertising to bring in revenue for the district and some updated information on the from finance committee chairwoman Lynne Hurley.

To accommodate parents who want to attend the meeting, the Bradley Gardens PTO is offering free babysitting services at the Wade Administration Building, where the meeting will be held.

A closed session will be held prior to the meeting, and the public portion will open at 8 p.m.
