JFK PTO Annual Healthy Dance

Each year, JFK PTO holds a Healthy Dance fundraiser for an organization that supports Children Health issues. This year we have chosen Candlelighters of Brevard. This organization supports children with Leukemia and their families. They provide lunches, dinners, and a 'relief' from reality. A JFK alumni, Vincenzo Grande, has a son who has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Enzo is turning 4 this year. They recently relocated to Florida and have utilized Candlelighters due to the sad, yet trying situation they have been faced with. Statistics released by St. Jude Medical Center gives us great cause for hope for our children. In 1962, a child stricken by Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia had a 4% chance of survival. Today the survival rate for that disease is 94%!!! Similar dramatic improvement is being experienced by other types of childhood cancer as well. Although there has been some success in the isolation and treatment of the disease, one to two children in 10,000 will be diagnosed with cancer and three of ten children having the disease will eventually lose their battle with it.

This is an event that every child loves - hosted by Mr. V!!!!

This event is only open to students of John Kennedy Primary School but if you would like to donate to this wonderful organization please contact Jfkptoraritan@gmail.com John F. Kennedy is located at 255 Woodmere Street, Raritan, NJ
