High School Shows Off Its Musical Talent

Bridgewater-Raritan High School hosts a Battle of the Bands Friday.

Local band End of Discussion took home the top prize at the Battle of the Bands Friday.

The event was filled with talent, as one person posted on the Bridgewater Patch Facebook page, stating, "All the bands were so talented, with lots of original material, and the faculty band rocked the house."

In total at the competition, six bands participated, each with varying styles of music that ranged from classical and rock to heavy death metal.

Each band had its own fan base, and one took the opportunity to sell CDs and tickets to its next show. Still, high school teachers in attendance were the ones with the final say in who won.

Each band had three songs to wow the crowd and judges, and, in between the different bands setting up, the competition featured silly games, such as seeing who could blow a feather in the air the longest, who could take out all the tissues in a box first and who could eat a cookie without hands in one minute.

While the teachers were judging, a band whose members were several of the teachers and the vice principal entertained the crowd. For many, this was saving the best for last—the teacher-created rock band, Sylvio, was explained to sound much like fan favorite Fall Out Boys.
