Drama Club Takes on 1900s in Annual Play

Students bring turn-of-the-century story to life.

's drama club presented L.M. Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables" for its first performance Wednesday, and as directed by Timothy Macht. 

The performance included 22 actors, with the lead role of Anne Shirley played by student Olalla Duato. Outside of the actors, there were 20 crew members supporting the show.

Set in the early 1900's, the story is of an orphan girl, Anne Shirley, who is taken in by a family as it follows her trials and tribulations of school, boys and friends.

According to Macht, the cast has been working on the performance for about 12 weeks. 

"Anne's adventures are pretty entertaining and we have a very good Anne, Olalla Duato," he said. "If people are able to see the show, they will enjoy it. It is a very good ensemble cast, and we have some great costumes."

The show has it's final performance Friday at 7 p.m. at the Hillside school.
